MISSION STATEMENT

The Imani Kuumba Graduate Chapter of New Jersey serving Northern and Central Jersey, was chartered on March 5, 2011 with 20 founding members who collectively stepped out on FAITH and CREATIVITY to dedicate themselves to community service and sisterhood by working professionally through our beloved organization Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc.® The chapter currently has 30 members.

 

Imani Kuumba is committed to serving and improving the communitites in which we live. Since inception, members have participated in numerous community service projects: 

​

  • The Amity Park Village Shelter and Housing Services for Women & Children

  • Plainfield Youth Organization Unity Summit

  • Rutgers University Adopt-a-Family Program

  • Supplies for Success for 18th Avenue School and Dr. Martin Luther King School (both Newark, NJ)

  • Greater Newark Conservancy Adopt-a-Lot Program

  • Aids Walk New York.

The Sisters of Imani Kuumba focus on excellence as it pertains to the quality of our organization and the innovative activities in which we implement, as well as, leadership skills that encourage, motivate, and empower true sisterhood.

Focuses on honoring the best of our traditions, draws upon the best in ourselves, and helps us strive for a higher level of life for humankind, by affirming our self-worth and confidence in our ability to succeed and triumph in righteous struggle.

Makes use of our creative energies to build and maintain a strong and vibrant community.
